Usually according to its plating area can be divided into all plating and partial plating. Many parts need to be partially electroplated for insulation protection of the non-plated surface, which needs to use different local insulation methods to meet the technical requirements of the construction, to ensure that the non-plated surface of the parts will not be plated, especially the parts with special requirements.
According to the daily work experience, several commonly used partial electroplating process methods are introduced.

Method of dressing
This method is to use adhesive or plastic cloth, tape and other materials for non-plated surface insulation protection, the method of wrapping according to the shape of the parts. The dressing method is suitable for simple parts, especially circular parts with regular shapes. The bandaging method is a simple method of insulation protection.

Special fixture method
Special fixture method, also called imitation fixture method. That is to say, for some complex shapes of parts, can imitate the shape of the parts designed a special insulation fixture, which can greatly improve the production efficiency. If the inner or outer diameter of the bearing is partially chromium plated, a special bearing chromium plating fixture can be designed, and this fixture can also be repeated for many times.

Protection of waxes
The characteristics of wax insulation are good bonding performance with parts, wide temperature range, and the end edge of the insulation layer will not be warped. Therefore, it is suitable for parts with high tolerance of the insulation end edge size and complex shapes. In addition, the wax preparation can also be reused with small loss, but its use method is more complex and the cycle is longer. When coating wax preparation, the part should be preheated to 50 ~ 70℃, and then coated with melted wax preparation, first coated with a thin layer to cover the entire surface to be insulated, then the wax should not be solidified halfway, and then repeatedly coated to the required thickness. After coating, in the warm state before cooling to room temperature, trim the insulating end edge with a knife, and then repeatedly wipe the surface to be plated with a cotton ball with gasoline. The operation should be very careful. After plating, the wax preparation can be melted and recovered in hot water or a special wax barrel, and then the parts can be cleaned with solvents such as gasoline or water-soluble cleaning agents.

Coating insulation method
Lacquer insulating coatings are often used for insulation protection during electroplating. This insulation protection method is easy to operate and can be applied to complex parts. The commonly used insulating coatings are perchloroethylene anticorrosive varnish, polyvinyl chloride insulating coating, nitro glue and so on.
